Hi Chuck, where are you at these days?
I just got a 98R, wanted to know if the TRE affects the idle situation on this model? Cans done, have flames!

Chuck: I'm lurking around... Congrats on the new ride! Yes the TRE will effect the idle if it is just the non-active resistor type. For this type, when you pull in the clutch the idle should go up a little. If you purchased a JRE brand or made your own semi-active or active type then your idle will NOT be effected.

Hey Chuck, great site, question, what would happen if soomeone cut the connectors where you plug the tre into, and soldered them together individually

Chuck: They will be fine as long as they are insulated from each other. If someone jut cut out the plug and soldered the wires it shouldbe OK.

whats the problem when a tlr starts to backfire

Chuck: That is the mid exhaust gasket. Where your front and rear exhaust pipes meet there is a junction with 2 bolts with a gasket inside. Replace that gasket and it should stop.

Great website
On airbox mod, what do I do with the VCSV?
Also, what did you use to cover the big round holes in the top of air box?
Thanks! Roger

Chuck: Hey Roger, you can remove the VCSV and tape up the connector with electrical tape so that it doesn't short on anything. I plugged the airbox holes with some very thin circles of stainless steel you can use just about anything. PM me on tlplanet.com or tlzone.net with your address I will mail you a set.

Hi!Great site! Did the stock can, but it`s hard to get the right paint here up north. Can you tell me more about it, and how you applied it? Thommy

Chuck: Hey Thommy, I went to an autoparts store (NAPA)and bought high heat ceramic header spray paint. I cleaned the cans well and then sprayed a few coats. The ceramic paint was messy so wear a mask and do it in a place where its OK for ceramic dust to get everywhere.
