Hey chuck first let me say I love the site. you have a lot of great info. I hope you can help me. I put on a new chrome front wheel and torqued it to specs but the wheel seemed stiff, well now that I have put a few miles on the bike the front wheel seemed to be getting real hot.
Now my prob is the rivets in the Lt fr brake rotor are real lose. did the wheel get so hot at a point that in over expanded the rivets and do I now need new rotors ?

Chuck: The wheel heating up sounds like the wheel bearings need to be replaced -do this right away. For the rotors, they are probabaly fine unless they are warped. They are floating disks so those are not loose rivets. Make sure you "settle" the front end when you torque it down -make sure you follow the steps in the manual.

i bought my 98 tl in feb. after moving to az i started getting charging problems. it seems to be charging when the bike is cold at 13.4v but when it gets hot the bike doesnt charge and runs off the battery and dies. i can put it on my volt meter and watch the voltage drop as its running. is there anyone out there that has done the charging mod to the 98 and if so how do i do it. pictures and/or diagram would be great with instructions.

Chuck: Ski, try a new battery -the cell go bad because we run them on their side. Also do the electrical fix on my TL page -this will probably fix your charging issue.

Hi! I have a 99 TL1000R that blew the low beam light last night. I replaced the light but I have no lights still. Both hi/lo lights are fine and I checked the hi/lo fuses - both seem fine. Still no lights. Any suggestions?

Chuck: Hi Ken, check your starter relay. Do the electrical fix on my TL page. That should get you fixed.

Hey Chuck, who do I have to murder to get a full system for my TL ? Yosh or Akro,or any decent system for that matter.
Thanx

Chuck: Hi Joe, as you know these are no longe made. You see them for sale on TLZONE.net and TLPLANET.com from time to time. People sell their bikes but sell the goodies first. Keep your stock exhaust as the other guy is likely to need it to put the bike back to stock.

Awesome site bro. I bought a 99" R June 1st. The owner couldn't start it. I bought it replaced the spark plugs and filter. Sprayed throttle body cleaner in flutes and finally got it started. I drove aroa the block for about 15 to 20 mins. and it ran hot because fan housings were bent. Turned bike off put it up and went on a trip came back abt 2 wks later and it hasn't started since. Tried cleaner, tired battery, checked all vacuum hoses, (pair valve was already removed before me.

Chuck: Hey Javis, check out http://www.chucksirois.com/TL1000/FAQ.htm this sill get you started. Sounds like your bike needs some work but once you are done you will be happy. Good luck!

I have an 01 TL1000R. I was looking at the exhaust mod that you did. I was really thinking about doing that. I can't see in the pictures where exactly you put the baffle? And where did you cut off the exhaust?

Chuck: Hi Sean, the baffle is right at the end -it is hard to see. The mounting bolt is on the underside of the exhaust. You can cut the exhaust just about anywhere between the underside of the bike and the can -just preference. Shorter = louder.

Hi very useful website much appreciated, just a quickie the rear of my hump (tail end) rubs on the paint work have you got any solutions to this ?
Cheers Ben
ben_fielder@hotmail.com

Chuck: there should be rubber bumbers on the hump that prevents them from touching. you can also use felt -like the little felt circles used on cabinet doors...

Chuck, where did you get the spare radiator mount for the cracked case mod? Doesn't look like a tl...

Chuck: its the bottom radiator mount from a TLR. You can use whatever spare metal you have around as long as its strong enough
